I realized that there is very few deviations and stock images with proper crying. Just as a smile without the cheeks coming up to scrunch around the eyes doesn't look genuine, there's more than having tears to stream down your face to cry, and you don't have to cover the face with the hands or put the character in gothic clothing to convey it. When you are truly crying, and not just having a drop of Visine drip down your face, your bottom lip stiffens up and pushes out into an upside down U.
